Former SNP chief executive Peter Murrell has been charged by police as part of a probe into the party's finances. The husband of Scotlandâs former first minister Nicola Sturgeon was charged on Thursday in connection with the alleged embezzlement of funds. Humza Yousaf has announced his resignation as Scotland's first minister ahead of forthcoming confidence votes. Mr Yousaf had been battling for his political survival after terminating the power-sharing deal between the SNP and Scottish Greens on Thursday. He entered Holyrood in 2011, first as a regional MSP and then as the representative for Glasgow Pollok five years later. In 2012, he became a junior minister in Alex Salmondâs government, before being promoted to the Scottish Cabinet during Nicola Sturgeonâs premiership. A 14-year-old boy killed in a sword attack as he walked to school has been named as Daniel Anjorin. Tributes have been paid to the teenager who has been described as a "much-loved" pupil and a keen footballer. The horrific attack which took place in Hainault, north-east London on Tuesday morning left four more people injured. A 17-year-old boy has been arrested and remains in custody on suspicion of attempted murder after three people were injured at a school in Sheffield. Assistant Chief Constable, Dan Thorpe, urged the public to ârefrain from posting images, footage or speculation on social media as it will be harmful to the investigationâ.

The parents of Grace OâMalley-Kumar have blamed âfailingsâ in the system for a series of stabbing attacks, including a sword attack in Hainault on Tuesday and a school stabbing in Sheffield on Wednesday. Graceâs father, Dr Sanjoy Kumar, said âpositive change is so long overdueâ after a 14-year-old boy was killed in Hainault and three teenage boys were admitted to hospital in Sheffield following the attacks.
