In a heart-wrenching incident, at least 45 Indians were among the 49 people killed when a devastating fire swept through a labour housing facility in Kuwait’s Mangaf area early Wednesday.
The tragedy has cast a spotlight on the appalling living conditions faced by migrant workers in the Gulf region.
An Indian Air Force aircraft brought the mortal remains of the victims back to India, with 24 of the deceased being from Kerala.
The arrival of the remains at Kochi Airport was met by grieving families who are struggling to come to terms with their loss.
Four major Arab nations — Saudi Arabia, UAE, Kuwait, and Jordan — have strongly condemned Israel’s military strikes on Iran, labeling them as violations of sovereignty and international law. Riyadh has called for urgent UN Security Council intervention, while the UAE urged maximum restraint. Kuwait and Jordan warned the strikes threaten Middle East stability.
