‘Peace Deal Rejected’: India Declines Support To Ukraine’s Agenda, Calls for Dialogue with Putin
India maintained a neutral stance on the Ukraine conflict resolution efforts at the recent "peace summit" in Switzerland.
While attending the opening and closing sessions, India did not endorse any outcome document.
India believes only "sincere and practical engagement" between Russia and Ukraine can lead to a resolution through dialogue and diplomacy.
India will continue engaging both sides to contribute towards an early and lasting peace, asserting that solutions must be acceptable to both parties involved in the conflict.
In their first call since 2022, Presidents Vladimir Putin and Emmanuel Macron held a lengthy discussion covering the Ukraine war and Iran's nuclear ambitions. Macron urged a ceasefire and stressed support for Ukraine’s sovereignty, while Putin blamed the West for fueling the conflict and defended Tehran’s nuclear rights under the NPT. Both leaders addressed rising Iran-Israel tensions and U.S. strikes on Iranian infrastructure. They agreed to coordinate further on Iran’s nuclear issue and emphasized continued diplomatic engagement.
