In a major success for security forces, 12 Maoists were killed in an intense encounter in Chhattisgarh's Bijapur district.

This comes just a week after another operation in which 8 Maoists were neutralized.

The joint operation involved the District Reserve Guard (DRG), Special Task Force (STF), CRPF, and CoBRA unit, targeting the West Bastar division of Maoists.

The central government has vowed to eliminate Naxalism by 2026, and this operation marks another step in that direction.
