A massive desert sandstorm struck Jaisalmer late on May 24, plunging the city into low visibility and eerie silence.

Locals described waking up to skies filled with thick dust, unable to see the sun or even the iconic Jaisalmer Fort.

The storm also brought an unexpected drop in temperatures, but the dry, hazardous conditions remain.

The Indian Meteorological Department (IMD) continues to issue a heatwave alert across Rajasthan, with temperatures nearing 48°C in Jaisalmer, Barmer, and other districts.
