Liverpool crash: Why did police release details so quickly?
Dozens of people have been injured after a car ploughed into a crowd of people during Liverpool FC’s Premier League victory parade on Monday.
It took Merseyside Police less than two hours to reveal the ethnicity and nationality of the suspect.
Contrast that with the lack of information following the Southport murders and subsequent riots last summer, and it’s clear the force has learnt lessons from the past.

Steve Rotheram has paid tribute to "family man" Diogo Jota, who has died in a car accident aged 28 in the Spanish province of Zamora. The mayor of Liverpool City Region shared his "devastation" at the news adding, "it's a loss to football and it's a loss to Liverpool Football Club, but it's an unbelievable loss to his family". A 53-year-old man, Paul Doyle, has been charged after a car ploughed into a crowd at the end of Liverpool football club’s Premier League victory parade on Monday evening. Deputy chief constable of Merseyside Police, Jenny Sims, said, "Doyle has been remanded into custody and he will appear at Liverpool Magistrates Court in the morning”.
