Tories criticise government following record crossings

The Tories have criticised the government for blaming good weather conditions for record crossings over the weekend.

More than 1,100 migrants arrived in the UK after crossing the English Channel on Saturday, the highest number recorded on a single day so far in 2025.

Shadow Home Secretary Chris Philp said it is a "pathetic attempt to blame the weather" for the fact they have "lost control of our borders".
