Alfredo Cospito is an Italian anarchist. He was sentenced to 10 years for kneecapping the head of the Italian nuclear power company Ansaldo Nucleare in 2012, and subsequently to life without parole for bombing a Carabinieri cadet barracks in Fossano. In 2022, Cospito was placed in the restrictive 41-bis prison regime which involves 22 hours per day spent in solitary confinement and began a hunger strike in protest. After over 100 days without food, he was moved to Opera prison in Lombardy. In support of Cospito, Italian diplomatic offices have been attacked worldwide. After previously dismissing it, the Supreme Court of Cassation set a date to hear his appeal on 24 February 2023.
