Vaisakhi, also known as the Punjabi New Year is a historical and religious festival in Hinduism and Sikhism. It is usually celebrated on 13 or 14 April every year at the beginning of the month of Vaisakha in the Hindu Calendar or Vaisakh in the Sikh Calendar. In Sikhism, Vaisakhi commemorates the formation of Khalsa panth of warriors under Guru Gobind Singh in 1699. It is additionally a spring harvest festival and New Year's Day for the many Hindus and Sikhs.
