IndiaTimes Wednesday, 25 October 2023
The Goods and Services Tax (GST) authorities in India have issued show cause notices worth Rs 1 lakh crore to online gaming companies for tax evasion. The government has made it mandatory for foreign gaming companies to register in India from October 1. Companies like Dream11 and Delta Corp have received notices for short payment of taxes. Online gaming companies are contesting the claims of revenue authorities, stating that the games played on their platforms are "games of skill".
