Starmer 'ready for May election' as he warns Tories will 'go low' in fight for No 10
Monday, 9 October 2023 Sir Keir Starmer said he is primed for a general election as soon as May, as he warned that the Tories will "go low" in the fight for Number 10.
The Labour leader hailed the win by his party’s candidate David Skaith in the York and North Yorkshire mayoral election, an area he described as “the heart of Tory territory”. Appearing at Northallerton Town Football Club with new mayor Mr Skaith, Sir Keir said: “It’s an amazing moment in history, to have a Labour victory here.''
