Gazan doctor held in 'inhumane' conditions in Israeli jail, says lawyer
Monday, 21 July 2025 The lawyer of a high-profile Gazan doctor detained by Israel since last December has spoken of her shock over his condition after being allowed a rare visit to see him in jail.
After Hamas accepted new ceasefire terms to release half of the hostages, Israel has shifted conditions, demanding the release of all 50 remaining captives. The move risks derailing a Qatar- and Egypt-brokered truce. Netanyahu insists war will only end if Hamas disarms, Gaza is demilitarized, and Israeli security control is secured. Ship with hundreds of tonnes of food aid for Gaza nears Israeli port after leaving Cyprus
Cyprus was the staging area last year for 22,000 tonnes of aid deliveries by ship directly to Gaza through a pier operated by the international charity World Central Kitchen and a US military-run docking facility known as the Joint Logistics Over-the-Shore System.
