CSIR develops tobacco variety with 40-50% less nicotine

Working on a project inspired by Prime Minister Narendra Modi, a Council of Scientific and Industrial Research (CSIR) organization has produced a tobacco type with a nicotine level reduced by 40-50% to reduce its health impact. "As a result, the end-user may use tobacco, but the impact on their health will be minimized," said CSIR director general N Kalaiselvi on Monday.
