Speaker suspends 2 BJP MLAs for 'throwing dal' in Odisha assembly

Two BJP MLAs, Mohan Majhi and Mukesh Mahaling, have been suspended by Speaker Pramila Mallik for the remainder of the monsoon session in the Odisha Vidhan Sabha. The suspension was a result of the MLAs allegedly throwing uncooked dal at the speaker's podium during a protest against the use of unparliamentary language. The BJP members had demanded the removal of a derogatory word used against the leader of the opposition. The suspended MLAs claim that their actions were only symbolic and that they did not throw the dal at the speaker.
