Panel defers adoption of draft bills seeking legal reform amid Opposition protest
The parliamentary standing committee for home affairs has deferred the adoption of three new bills seeking legal reforms in India. The Opposition has protested against the bills, alleging that they were adopted hastily and without proper consultation. Members of the committee have requested more time to review the draft report and have expressed reservations about the bills being in Hindi. Despite the opposition, Union Home Minister Amit Shah has indicated that the bills will soon be passed by Parliament.
