Air India in dock for deploying aircraft with less emergency-use oxygen reserve than required for Delhi-US nonstop; DGCA seeks reply

IndiaTimes Thursday, 2 November 2023
Air India is being investigated by the Directorate General of Civil Aviation (DGCA) for using a Boeing 777 with insufficient emergency oxygen on a recent Delhi-US nonstop flight. The pilot refused to operate the aircraft due to the oversight, and the DGCA has requested information from the airline. Most aircraft have enough oxygen for 12-15 minutes per passenger, but planes flying over high mountains, such as the Hindu Kush range, need extra oxygen for 25-30 minutes.

Dubai Floods: Air India, IndiGo Dubai flights face cancellation amid adverse weather | Oneindia

The United Arab Emirates witnessed an unprecedented deluge, marking its most substantial rainfall on record since 1949. Described as a "historic weather event" by the state-run WAM news agency, the widespread downpour across the UAE is attributed to a combination of factors, including cloud seeding initiatives. Significant disruptions have been reported in flights from India to Dubai due to heavy rains causing flooding at the emirate's airport, one of the world's busiest. Air India, operating 72 weekly flights from multiple Indian cities to Dubai, alongside IndiGo, have cancelled their services on Wednesday. Other carriers, including Air India Express, Vistara, and SpiceJet, which also serve various Indian cities to Dubai routes, have been affected as well. Dubai, hosting a substantial Indian diaspora, sees these flight cancellations impacting travel plans and connections for many. #DubaiRains #DubaiFlightsCancelled #AirIndia #IndiGo #FlightsCancelledDubai #dubaiflood #dubaifloodnewstoday2024 #dubaifloodinglive #dubaifloodslatestnewstoday #dubaifloodnewstoday #dubaiflood2024 #dubaifloodnews #dubaiflood2024live #dubaifloodvideo #Oneindia #Oneindia news ~PR.152~ED.101~GR.121~HT.96~

Another Boeing Flight Experiences Mid-Flight Tire Issue

Another Boeing Flight , Experiences Mid-Flight Tire Issue. NBC reports that the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) is investigating yet another Boeing mishap, this time involving an American Airlines flight. On March 13, a Boeing 777 landed after it "blew a tire during take off" from Dallas-Fort Worth International Airport, according to the FAA. American Airlines, the flight's operator, said that no tire was blown, adding that the pilot was aware that the pressure was low in one of the aircraft's tires. The aircraft taxied to the gate under its own power and customers deplaned normally, American Airlines statement, via NBC. LAX confirmed that the flight landed safely without incident. The news comes after another incident involving a Boeing aircraft just last week. In that incident a tire flew off of a United Airlines Boeing 777-200 shortly after takeoff, prompting an emergency landing. At the time, United said that the Boeing 777-200 is “designed to land safely with missing or damaged tires" as it has “six tires on each of its two main landing gear struts.”. NBC reports that these incidents follow a major January 5 mishap involving a door panel blowing off of a Boeing 737 Max 9 plane operated by Alaska Airlines. . In response to that incident, the FAA grounded all Boeing 737 Max 9 aircraft in the U.S and ordered increased oversight of Boeing aircraft production.
