Both Centre, states complicit in their inaction: Jairam Ramesh after Supreme Court observations on Delhi pollution
Tuesday, 7 November 2023 With the Supreme Court taking a stern view of the pollution situation in Delhi, former environment minister and senior Congress leader Jairam Ramesh on Tuesday said both Centre and states have been complicit in their "inaction". He urged the court to intervene to reverse what he said was the "weakening" of the NGT by the Modi government. The court asked Punjab, Haryana, UP and Rajasthan to stop stubble burning, saying it cannot let "people die" due to pollution.
Dhananjaya Yeshwant Chandrachud, Chief Justice of India, inaugurated “Mitti Cafe” in Supreme Court Premises, Delhi, on November 10. Mitti Cafe is entirely operated and managed by specially-abled people.
