ED: 30% of PDS foodgrain go to open market in West Bengal

As much as 30% of foodgrain in West Bengal's public distribution system meant for the poor was diverted to the open market, the ED claimed on Tuesday, a day after senior TMC minister Jyoti Priya Mallick was remanded to ED custody till November 12 by a special court in Kolkata. The ED has alleged that the proceeds of crime generated by diverting PDS foodgrain to the black market were shared between the millers and the PDS distributors, a syndicate allegedly controlled by close associates of the minister.
