Diaspora panel in US seeks to include extremist Pannun and SFJ on no-fly list
Tuesday, 21 November 2023 () A diaspora panel in the US has called for designated terrorist Gurpatwant Singh Pannun and his banned organization Sikhs For Justice (SFJ) to be added to the no-fly list. The panel, organized by the Foundation for India and Indian Diaspora Studies, accused Pannun of issuing video threats against Air India passengers. The SFJ, which is based in the US and banned by the Indian government, has been involved in anti-India activities. The panel also criticized Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau for allegedly misrepresenting freedom of expression and ignoring the threat of extremism.

In our case, I think requests have gone through detailing the kind of crimes that he is responsible for, in India...We have also flagged concerns to our partners regarding any threats made by extremists or terrorists against India or Indian diplomats..." On the number of Indian students dying abroad being highest in Canada, MEA Spokesperson Arindam Bagchi says, "Canada does happen to numerically be the highest, but I would urge that they be looked at in relation to the total number of Indian students in that country..."
