Saturday, 25 November 2023 Telangana is experiencing an unseasonal beer festival due to the upcoming November 30 assembly elections. Politicians and candidates have stocked up on beer, anticipating it to be the favorite drink of voters. Hard liquor sales have been tepid, but the real picture may be hidden as candidates have stored a significant amount of liquor. Liquor shops were ordered to close during the voting period, but arrangements were made to supply a large stock when needed. In the 2018 elections, liquor sales dipped before voting day, attributed to strict monitoring by the Election Commission.
