Biker 75% guilty in bus hit, says HC, cuts payout by 3 quarters

The Karnataka high court reduced the compensation awarded to a motorcyclist in an accident case by 75% due to contributory negligence. The court found that the motorcyclist had swerved to the extreme right of the road and collided with a KSRTC bus. Justice Lalitha Kanneghanti directed KSRTC to pay a reduced compensation of Rs 84,500 with 6% interest. The motorcyclist, Veerabhadra, sought Rs 10 lakh compensation but was awarded Rs 3.4 lakh by the tribunal, which held him responsible for 10% contributory negligence. The high court apportioned 75% negligence to Veerabhadra and 25% to the driver of the KSRTC bus.
