ED official held for graft in Tamil Nadu said cash was for 'superiors'

Ankit Tiwari, an ED officer, was arrested in Tamil Nadu for accepting bribes from a government doctor. Tiwari claimed to be instructed by the PMO and said the cash was for his superiors. His conversations with Dr. T Suresh Babu, who agreed to pay Rs 51 lakh, were recorded. Tiwari demanded Rs 3 crore initially but settled for Rs 51 lakh. DVAC conducted searches at the ED's Madurai office and seized incriminating documents. Tiwari used corruption cases registered by DVAC to extort money.
