BJP may consider caste count on own terms

IndiaTimes Sunday, 3 December 2023
Bharatiya Janata Party's big win opens opportunities to address opposition demands for a caste census. The party can now consider ordering the second edition of the Socio-Economic Caste Census (SECC) to reveal caste details and map poverty. SECC-2 has been demanded by policymakers due to outdated data from the previous survey. BJP's victory in three states strengthens its position to address the issue, especially with rival parties demanding it in Bihar and UP.
