Maharashtra brings back annual exams & detention for class V, VIII students

IndiaTimes Friday, 8 December 2023
Schools in Maharashtra can now hold annual exams for class V and VIII, eliminating the no-fail policy. Students must score a minimum of 35% on the exams, which will be based on the second semester syllabus and held in April. Those who fail can take a re-examination in June with a possibility of receiving up to 10 grace marks in three subjects. The question papers will be set by the schools, although the state will provide sample papers. Committees will monitor the exams and detention of students at various levels.
