Parliament security system to be reviewed; image will be captured by facial recognition device
Wednesday, 13 December 2023 Following a major security breach in Parliament, strict measures were implemented to reduce contact between MPs and visitors. Smart ID Cards were provided to members as part of the new Smart ID Card-based Visitor Management System. Additionally, a Facial Recognition System was installed to regulate access in Parliament. The system captures images of entrants and triggers the flap barrier to open. The incident occurred during Zero Hour when two intruders entered the Lok Sabha chamber from the visitor gallery, releasing yellow gas and shouting slogans before being overpowered by MPs.

On April 28, the Election Commission of India (ECI) directed the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) to revise the content of its Lok Sabha campaign song to adhere to the Advertising Codes outlined in the Cable Television Network Rules, 1994, and ECI guidelines. The AAP was requested to make necessary modifications to the song and resubmit it for certification. “The phrase “jail ke jawaab me hum vote denge” showing an aggressive mob holding the photo of Arvind Kejriwal showing him behind bars, casts aspersions on the Judiciary. Further, the said phrase appears several times in the advertisement which contravenes the provisions of ECI Guidelines and Rule 6(1(g) of Programme and Advertising Codes prescribed under the Cable Television Network Rules, 1994” (DISPLAY) said ECI.
