In his term as the chief minister of the state Chouhan launched several welfare schemes specifically for women, affectionately addressing them as 'ladli behnas' or beloved sisters. In a viral video shared by news agency ANI, women supporters were seen hugging and crying in his visit to his former Lok Sabha constituency Vidisha. Addressing him as 'Bhaiyya' (brother) and 'Mama' (maternal uncle), women and girls expressed their desire for his return as the Chief Minister.

The BJP has announced the nominations for the Lok Sabha elections, with former Madhya Pradesh Chief Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan nominated from Vidisha and Union Minister Jyotiraditya Scindia set to contest the Guna seat. The 53-year-old leader is among the 195 Lok Sabha election candidates announced by the BJP at its presser on Saturday.
