5-week-old baby, woman die in fire in Lucknow hospital

A fire broke out in an operation theatre at Sanjay Gandhi Post Graduate Institute of Medical Sciences (SGPGIMS) in Lucknow, resulting in the death of a five-week old baby with a congenital heart disease and a 26-year-old woman with a parathyroid tumor. The fire, caused by a short circuit, spread to the connected anesthesia workstation, causing a blast. Panic ensued among patients, attendants, and hospital staff. Senior officers and fire brigade teams were directed to carry out relief work.
