Covid-19 cases: Elders advised to mask up; no curbs on gatherings, inter-state travel yet

IndiaTimes Wednesday, 20 December 2023
The state government advises the elderly to wear masks in crowded places due to the detection of JN.1, a sub-variant of SARS-CoV2, and increasing Covid-19 cases in neighbouring Kerala. There are no restrictions on public gatherings or inter-state travel. The advisory recommends that elderly individuals, pregnant women, and those with co-morbidities wear face masks and avoid closed and crowded areas. Good personal hygiene, frequent handwashing, and staying at home when unwell are also emphasized. The government suggests genomic sequencing of positive samples and ramping up Covid testing in the state.
