A ray of hope for terminally ill cancer patients in Delhi

IndiaTimes Monday, 1 January 2024
AIIMS has been offering theranostics, a treatment using a combination of radioactive drugs, to treat terminally-ill cancer patients for 15 years. This treatment has resulted in increased longevity by at least two years and improved the quality of life for patients. Theranostics delivers targeted doses to cancer-affected cells while sparing healthy tissues, unlike external radiation. It is used when traditional cancer treatments fail. The therapy has shown positive results in various types of cancer, but challenges remain due to the non-availability and cost of certain drugs in India.
