Gujarat: Kejriwal announces jailed MLA Chaitar Vasava as candidate from Bharuch Lok Sabha seat

Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) chief Arvind Kejriwal has named jailed MLA Chaitar Vasava as the party's candidate for the Bharuch Lok Sabha seat in Gujarat. Kejriwal appealed to the people to ensure Vasava's victory in the elections. Vasava, who is currently in jail, will fight the election from there if he is not released. The AAP has started its election campaign with a public rally in Bharuch. In the previous Lok Sabha polls, the BJP secured victory in all 26 seats in Gujarat, but the AAP won five seats in the state assembly polls in 2022.

On April 28, the Election Commission of India (ECI) directed the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) to revise the content of its Lok Sabha campaign song to adhere to the Advertising Codes outlined in the Cable Television Network Rules, 1994, and ECI guidelines. The AAP was requested to make necessary modifications to the song and resubmit it for certification. “The phrase “jail ke jawaab me hum vote denge” showing an aggressive mob holding the photo of Arvind Kejriwal showing him behind bars, casts aspersions on the Judiciary.
