India slips 8 slots in graft index, ranked 93 along with Lesotho
Tuesday, 30 January 2024 India has tied with Maldives, Kazakhstan, and Lesotho to rank at 93 out of 180 countries on the Corruption Perception Index (CPI), 2023, an annual index, which was released on Tuesday by Transparency International, a global civil society. In 2022, India was ranked at 85, sharing the spot with five other countries, including the Maldives.

The World Happiness Report
was released on March 20.
It was compiled using global survey data based on life evaluations from 2021 to 2023.
Six key variables were considered:
"GDP per capita, social support, healthy life expectancy, freedom, generosity and
perceptions of corruption," CNN reports. .
