New solid waste management rules: Sanitation workers may refuse to collect unsegregated waste of your households

India's Environment Ministry has drafted new rules for solid waste management, empowering sanitation workers to fine those who don't segregate waste. Starting October 2025, gated communities, hotels, and large institutions will be required to segregate and process biodegradable waste, promoting a circular economy and reducing pollution from agricultural burning.
