Assam makes Assamese must in all official work

The Assam government has mandated the use of Assamese in all official communication alongside English, effective Tuesday. This directive, aimed at preserving Assamese identity, is part of implementing Clause VI of the Assam Accord. Bengali and Bodo will also be used in Barak Valley and the Bodo Autonomous Region, respectively, with English.
