Amitabh Kant resigns as G20 Sherpa, ends 45-year stint in bureaucracy
Tuesday, 17 June 2025 Amitabh Kant concluded his 45-year career in bureaucracy. He resigned from his position as India's G20 sherpa. Kant thanked PM Modi for the opportunity to drive developmental initiatives. He led India's G20 Presidency in 2023. Kant previously served as CEO of Niti Aayog. He also helped design the 'God's Own Country' and 'Incredible India' campaigns.
Rahul Gandhi launched one of his fiercest attacks yet on the Modi government, accusing it of everything from “vote chori” (vote theft) to fostering a dictatorial regime. Gandhi also targeted the controversy surrounding Vice President Jagdeep Dhankhar, alleging his unexplained absence during a crucial session symbolized the erosion of democratic accountability.
