Stranger from afar: Nasa confirms interstellar comet 3I/Atlas in our solar system; set to make a close pass in October
Friday, 4 July 2025 () NASA has spotted an intergalactic comet, named 3I/Atlas, that journeyed into our solar system. This icy snowball, the third interstellar object detected, poses no threat to Earth. Currently near Jupiter, it will pass between Mars and Earth's orbits in October, safely beyond 150 million miles from the red planet.
