Thursday, 27 July 2023 Kuwait executed five people, including one convicted of involvement in a suicide bombing four years ago by Islamic State that killed 26, the first such executions since November 2018. The death penalty is rare in Kuwait, which has executed dozens since launching it in the 1960s. Capital punishment is more prevalent in neighbouring Saudi Arabia and Iran.
