Thursday, 5 October 2023 Former Speaker Kevin McCarthy is set to take over Nancy Pelosi's office in the Capitol after being ousted from his position. Acting Speaker Patrick McHenry requested that Pelosi vacate her office, and McCarthy will be moving in. This eviction is seen by some as retaliation for Pelosi's removal. McCarthy faced criticism for his approval of a stopgap plan that reduced US aid to Ukraine. The motion to remove McCarthy was filed by Republican Matt Gaetz.
