Authorities cite dispute between inmates as 5 killed in Mexico prison riot
Saturday, 14 October 2023 A fight between inmates at a prison in Mexico's Tabasco state resulted in the death of five men, who were on trial or serving sentences for violent crimes. The police department has detained 16 prisoners in relation to the killings. Photos and videos posted on social media suggest that the victims may have been killed in retaliation for extorting money from fellow inmates.
A riot breaks out at Tacumbu prison in Asuncion, Paraguay, which was taken over by hundreds of inmates after the Justice Minister publicly announced a plan "to retake power in the penitentiaries" where the Rotela Clan and Brazilian gangs reign supreme.
