Israel aims to end its responsibility for Gaza Strip - minister
Friday, 20 October 2023 Israeli Defense Minister Yoav Gallant has stated that one objective of the military campaign in Gaza is to end Israel's responsibility over the enclave. Israel controls 90% of Gaza's land and sea boundaries, and has enforced a strict blockade since Hamas took control in 2007. The current military operation aims to destroy Hamas's infrastructure, followed by eliminating pockets of resistance. The third phase will involve the establishment of a new security reality for Israeli citizens and the removal of Israel's responsibility for life in Gaza.
