Fifteen UN peacekeepers were injured in Mali when their convoy hit improvised explosive devices on two separate occasions. The peacekeepers were withdrawing from a rebel stronghold due to growing insecurity in the region. Extremist group JNIM claimed responsibility for previous attacks, but it is unclear whether the peacekeepers were deliberately targeted in the recent incidents. The convoy is heading to Gao, and the UN hopes they will complete the journey by the end of the weekend.
