Afghans fleeing Pakistan to avoid arrest and deportation are facing dire conditions once they cross the border into their homeland. They are sleeping in the open without proper shelter, food, drinking water, and toilets. Aid agencies have reported limited access to basic necessities such as drinking water, heating, lighting, and toilets. With thousands of people entering Afghanistan daily, UN agencies and aid groups are setting up facilities to provide assistance.
