Nato allies condemn Russia's withdrawal from CFE treaty, will suspend its operation

NATO allies have condemned Russia's decision to withdraw from the Treaty on Conventional Armed Forces in Europe (CFE) and have announced that they will suspend its operation in response. Russia blamed the United States for undermining post-Cold War security through the enlargement of NATO. The United States said it would suspend treaty obligations, stating that Russia's war against Ukraine and its withdrawal from the treaty had fundamentally altered circumstances.
