US reports first bird flu case without animal exposure, sparks public health alert

A Missouri resident has tested positive for avian influenza without any known animal exposure, marking a first in the US. The patient, who had pre-existing conditions, was hospitalized on August 22 and later discharged after antiviral treatment. This is the 14th bird flu case reported in the country this year.
