Sydney Harbour Bridge pro-Palestine protest so busy it was 'perilous', police chief says
Sunday, 3 August 2025 () Tens of thousands of Sydney residents marched across the city's iconic Harbour Bridge to support Palestinians in Gaza and call for an end to the war.
In a dramatic show of defiance and solidarity, over 90,000 protesters flooded Sydney Harbour Bridge on Sunday in what organisers hailed as a "historic" pro-Palestinian demonstration. Despite heavy rain and a last-minute legal battle, the Supreme Court authorised the event just 24 hours prior. The...

Tensions are rising in Tijuana as protesters gathered outside the Mexican Foreign Affairs Ministry demanding the government immediately sever diplomatic relations with Israel over its actions in Gaza. Demonstrators held signs and chanted slogans denouncing what they described as “genocide” against the Palestinian people. One protester, Enrique Ochoa, said the conflict could be summed up in one word: “genocide.” The protest reflects growing outrage in Latin America over Israel’s military actions and the rising civilian death toll in Gaza.
The gathering in Tijuana adds to international pressure on Mexico to take a firmer stance. While Mexico has expressed concern over the violence, it has stopped short of condemning Israel outright or taking diplomatic action. The demands of the protestors echo similar calls in global capitals as pro-Palestinian movements grow louder. No official response from the Mexican government has been issued at the time of this report.

In an unprecedented move, Israeli Minister Itamar Ben Gvir prayed on the Temple Mount during Tisha B’Av, defying long-held protocols that prohibit overt Jewish prayer at the site. His actions sparked strong condemnation from the Palestinian Authority, Jordan, and Saudi Arabia. Over 1,200 Jewish worshippers visited the contested holy site, intensifying tensions. Critics say this violated the status quo agreement. The Temple Mount, home to Al Aqsa Mosque and the Dome of the Rock, remains a core flashpoint in the Israeli-Palestinian conflict. Netanyahu insists policy “has not changed.”
