People excited for Marshall County's first animal shelter

A marshall county animal shelter is officially in the works!

It's going to be the first shelter the county has ever had and officials told waay 31 it's something many have anticipated having for years.

Waay 31's ashley carter found out why commission members say the shelter is going to be a major benefit to the entire county.

Sright now this building has been used to keep stray animals so they wouldn't have to be killed....and it's about to go through so by the end of the year it can officially be marshall counties first animal shelter the new shelter will be able to house about 30 animals and will be managed by two employees and volunteers...com mission chairman james hutcheson told me the shelter will bring money to the county and allow it to remain a no-kill county.

Hutcheson says he's excited for the shelters re-opening and says it's something long awaited from people in marshall county james hutcheson, marshall co commission chairman: "it's been very positive, you know once we get it built and people start visiting then i hope we have some something that we can be very proud of."

In marshall county, ashley c waay 31 news hutcheson says work release inmates will also be helping work in the shelter once it opens.
