The remarks made by new Uttarakhand Chief Minister Tirath Singh Rawat on ripped jeans worn by a woman NGO worker sparked controversy. Tirath Singh's remarks didn't go well with Shiv Sena leader Priyanka Chaturvedi and she expressed her objection. "The most unfortunate part is that they teach this lesson of righteousness, traditions, culture and morals only to women. They always say that women wearing a certain type of clothes affect our culture and tradition, why don't they ask a man to wear a 'dhoti' to protect our culture, why only to women. It is very saddening and unfortunate that leaders, specifically senior leaders, are making these types of statements against women," she said. Former chief Minister of Uttarakhand, Harish Rawat also condemned the statement by Tirath Singh and also advised him to focus on development of the state. He said, "I feel Uttarakhand Chief Minister (Tirath Singh Rawat) should focus more on state's development and public welfare rather than commenting on jeans and today's fashion. Today is a changed era, at least give freedom to women so that they can wear clothes of their choice... Sometimes you see Lord Ram in PM Modi and sometimes you see Lord Krishna. And, now you are looking at jeans. I feel this is not right and one must restrain." Uttarakhand Chief Minister Tirath Singh Rawat on March 17 had said that women wearing ripped jeans cannot offer quality upbringing to their children.

Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath on March 28 laid foundation stone for extension of terminal building at Gorakhpur Airport in Uttar Pradesh. Civil Aviation Minister (Independent Charge) Hardeep Singh Puri was also present during the event. Dignitaries also flagged off an Alliance Air flight from Gorakhpur to Lucknow under RCS-UDAN on this occasion. Nand Gopal Gupta, Minister of Civil Aviation, Uttar Pradesh; Ravindra Shyamnarayan Shukla 'Ravi Kishan' MP (Lok Sabha); Shiv Pratap Khukla, MP (Rajya Sabha); Jai Prakash Nishad, MP (Rajya Sabha) and Dr. Radha Mohan Das Agrawal, MLA Gorakhpur Urban (U.P.) Shri Anuj Agrawal, Chairman, AAI, and other senior officials of AAI were also present during the event. The existing terminal building commissioned in the year 2018 was designed to cater 100 passengers and has an area of 1890 sqm. The passenger traffic at the Gorakhpur airport has grown exponentially in very short span of time. Thus, to increase the passenger handling capacity of the airport and make the airport suitable for Airbus 320 type of Aircraft, AAI has planned the extension of the existing terminal building at a cost of Rs 26.87 crore. Spread in an area of 3440 sqm, the extended terminal will be equipped with 10 check-in-counters and two conveyor belts in arrival hall. The new expanded building will have escalators, lifts and enough space for a restaurant and commercial activities. Airports Authority of India (AAI) under the Ministry of Civil Aviation is committed to develop airport infrastructure in the country and provide the world-class services.

A 1,000-bed hospital is being built for COVID patients in Madhya Pradesh's Sagar district which will start functioning from the end of this month. According to District Collector Deepak Singh construction work of the hospital in full swing and the hospital will be completed within the next three weeks. "This month, a target has been set to commission the 1,000 bed hospital. The work is going on very fast. Hopefully, in the next two weeks, we will complete the civil work. We will start the hospital by making arrangements in the next one week."
Chief Minister of Madhya Pradesh, Shivraj Singh Chouhan on May 09 informed Moil company will set up 350 (oxygen) bedded COVID care centre in the state at different locations, amid acute shortage across the country in wake of COVID second wave. "State govt and Centre govt are fighting together against COVID-19. Moil to set up 350 (oxygen) bedded COVID care centre in MP at different locations. They will also be providing us 350 oxygen concentrators and 50 ventilators," CM said to ANI.
The construction of a water filtration plant at Nowgam village of Shangus Block of Jammu and Kashmir's Anantnag district is currently underway. The new water filtration plant would be equipped with the latest purification technology and will provide clean drinking water to over 40 thousand people in four villages of Shangus block of Anantnag. According to Muhammad Ayoub, the assistant executive engineer Jal Shakti sub division Anantnag, "The work on this water filtration project will cost Rs 13 crore and 33 lakhs and within next month, the project will be completed and villagers will get clean drinking water." "Two main projects are underway here under two different programs. One filtration plant of one million gallons per day (MGD), SRA of two lakh gallons and allied structures are being built to give clean water to locals. This is a centrally sponsored scheme," he said. Muhammad Amin, a local said, "Last year in December, the work got stalled because of winter. But now we can drink clean water. The work is going on very well and we are thankful to the government for this filter plant. Four villages will get the benefit from this plant." Ghulam Nabi, another local said, "The quality of water was very bad and caused many diseases here. Now, we are getting clean water. The work is underway and now we will get to drink clean water. We thank the government for this plant."
PC Chacko, who recently left the Congress party, on March 16, said that in the upcoming Kerala elections, he extended his support to Left Democratic Front (LDF), and indicates that he will likely to join the Nationalist Congress Party (NCP) or LDF after meeting with NCP chief Sharad Pawar. "I'm meeting Sharad Pawar. Whatever crisis party is facing, it needs to be discussed. I'm also meeting Sitaram Yechury and GN Azad to discuss future course of action. I need to extend my support to LDF. I'll decide (on joining) after meeting Pawar sahib," Chacko said.
