MACON, Georgia (41NBC/WMGT) – Macon-Bibb Commissioners approved the relocation of two downtown Confederate statues in a 5-4 vote on Tuesday.

Commissioners voted to pass the resolution to renovate the corner of cotton ave and second street, and move the confederate statues to whittle park at rose hill cemetery.

Lucas: it also calls for the monument at the intersection of poplar and first streets, to be relocated to the cemetery and for a roundabout in its place.

Lucas: it has been in the planning and it's been just in a plan and on the shelf for a number of years and this accomplishes that goal of setting up another open space for people to congregate in the downtown area.
