Exotic animals including baby kangaroo recovered from smugglers in Assam

Assam Police detained two people in possession of exotic animals, including one baby kangaroo in Cachar.

"Two people detained yesterday in possession of exotic animals, including 1 kangaroo, 6 macaw parrots, 3 tortoises and 2 monkeys at Lailapur Forest," Jagadish Das, the Additional Superintendent of Police of Cachar district.

Cachar police were on routine checking in Lailapur to intercept illegal timber.

However, one of the forest officials detected a peculiar smell emanating from a lorry, after checking they found animals being smuggled.
