Gymnasiums began operations in Assam's Guwahati on August 03. The state government of Assam issued new guidelines for unlock 3.0 on August 02. The Ministry of Home Affairs (MHA) issued guidelines for Unlock 3.0 on July 29 for resumption of activities outside containment zones. Unlock 3.0 has came into effect from August 01. The gym owners are making sure that fitness equipments and machineries are getting properly sanitised. They are taking all necessary precautionary measures like maintaining social distancing, keeping a batch of 4-5 people at a time etc. All fitness centres are closed for nearly 4 months due to coronavirus pandemic. Now, this comes as a relief to several gym owners and fitness trainers who have been facing massive financial losses after having been shut since March.
Clashes broke out in the Cachar area of Assam over Ram Temple bhoomi poojan posters being put up by a few people. Two groups of people first had a verbal altercation over putting up the posters which quickly turned into stone pelting. Security officials rushed to the area and the situation was quickly brought under control. Armed paramilitary forces are presently guarding the area which has been sealed and curfew has been imposed to prevent any further flare-up. There are no reports of any injuries or casualties from the area so far. The incident comes days before the grand foundation laying ceremony in Ayodhya, which will be attended by PM Modi. Preparations are underway in the temple town to make the event a big success. Tight security has also been put in place to avoid any untoward incident. Tensions escalated when top police officials arrived to deal with the situation. At present the whole area is under the control of the armed paramilitary forces. The area has been sealed and curfew is imposed.
The British government has procured "millions" of two separate coronavirus tests. These tests can detect not only coronavirus but other viruses common in autumn, winter, and spring. Millions of new rapid coronavirus tests will provide on-the-spot results in under 90 minutes. This will help break chains of transmission quickly, according to reports at CNN. Gwinnett County Public Schools is the largest school district in Georgia, reports HuffPost. Some 260 of their employees have either tested positive or been exposed to COVID-19. Those people will be quarantined ahead of the start of the fall semester next week. The district intends to offer all-digital classes with both prerecorded and live components. However, staff members were still required to come to work and began preplanning activities in-person.
Over 40 Assam cops donated blood plasma after beating Covid-19. Assam Police organized a blood donation camp in Guwahati on August 01. It was organized in collaboration with State Health Department & National Health Mission. As per reports, a total of 67 personnel of Assam Police volunteered to donate plasma for treatment of COVID-19 patients out of which 43 personnel were found eligible to donate plasma. They were felicitated by Minister of Health Himanta Biswa Sarma, Minister of State, Health department Pijush Hazarika, DGP Assam Bhaskar Jyoti Mahanta, Harmit Singh, ADGP(A), M P Gupta, Commissioner of Police Guwahati and other dignitaries. Assam Police detained two people in possession of exotic animals, including one baby kangaroo in Cachar. "Two people detained yesterday in possession of exotic animals, including 1 kangaroo, 6 macaw parrots, 3 tortoises and 2 monkeys at Lailapur Forest," Jagadish Das, the Additional Superintendent of Police of Cachar district. Cachar police were on routine checking in Lailapur to intercept illegal timber. However, one of the forest officials detected a peculiar smell emanating from a lorry, after checking they found animals being smuggled.
