On Thursday Baltimore City's Department of Public Works announced the cancellation of residential recycling pickup services through November 1st.

INSTALLING COMMUNITY DUMPSTERSAROUND BALTIMORE CITY TO HELWITH RECYCLING.

NOW IT LOOKSLIKE IT'S a PERMANENT FIXTUREUNTIL SANITATION CREWS CANFULLY CATCH UP ON TRASHCOLLECTION.

AS WMAR 2 NEW'SDAVE DETLING REPORTS --- IFYOU WANT ITEMS TO BE RECYCLED-- YOU'LL HAVE TO DROP THEMOFF AT SPECIFIC SITYOURSELF.Behind me is one of thecommunity collection centers.Come Monday there will be adumpster where you can comeand drop off recyclingproducts.

This is for thesouthside of Baltimore city.On Monday, there will be morethen a dozen set up throughoutthe city.

So the recyclinghas been piling up for thelast few weeks.

I didnif it was because thecoronavirus, if thereoutbreak or what was going.TIRED OF THE PILEUP IN HIS OWYARD AND WITH FAMILY COMINGINTO TOWN FOR A VISITKLEIN LOADED HIS SUV AND TOOKHIS RECYCLING TO THE NEARESTDROP OFF SITE IN BALTIMORECITY.

WE FOUND KLEIN AT DPWMARITIME OPERATIONS FACILITYON EASTBOURNE AVENUE.ACCORDING TO THE DEPARTMENTTHIS IS ONE OF MORE THAN ADOZEN COMMUNITY COLLECTIONCENTERS BEING SET UP IN THEWAKE OF THE CITY CANCELINGRECYCLING SERVICES THROUGNOVEMBER 1st.

The centers willconsist of a roll off dumpsteror a trash vehicle and will beopen in operation from Mondaythrough Friday 7 AM to 3 PM.Two of the centers include thecitizens convenience centerlocated at our west side yardon Reedbird Ave and Our eastside yard on Bowleys Lane.DPW'S ACTING DIRECTOR SAYS IORDER TO MAINTAIN THE CITTRASH COLLECTIONBEING PULLED FROM OTHERSERVICE AREAS.

WITH A PAUSE ONRECYCLING COLLECTION CREWS CANBETTER FOCUS ON PICKING UPGARBAGE WHICH HAS ALSO SEENDELAYS BECAUSE OF SHORTSTAFFING AND THE IMPACTCOVID-19 HAS ON WORKERS.(NATS) BACK ON EASTERN AVENUEAHEAD OF MONDAYDPW WORKER TOLD WMAR 2 NEWSPEOPLE WERE MAKING DROP OFFSEARLY AND THE DEPARTMENTDIDN'T WANT TO TURN PEOPLEAWAY.

ON MONDAY THIS LOCATIONWILL HAVE A DUMPSTER PLACEDRIGHT AROUND THE CORNER INTHIS EMPTY LOT.
